July’s full moon — the Buck Moon — rises on July 29 this year, and if you’ve been feeling a little restless or a little reflective lately, you’re not imagining it. Full moons have a way of asking us to pause in the middle of a busy season, and the Buck Moon, landing right in the thick of summer, is no exception.

If you’ve spent any time around witchy or cottagecore spaces online, you’ve probably seen a jar of water sitting on a windowsill, glowing faintly in the moonlight, captioned something like “charging tonight.” That’s moon water — one of the simplest, lowest-cost rituals in modern witchcraft, and a genuinely lovely way to mark the moon’s phases without any special tools.
